Research Associate

to expand our grid and data centers research at Sightline Climate. This role includes conducting primary research, analyzing market data, and producing analyses that help shape the transition landscape. The Role Conduct in-depth research across our grid practice, providing insights on how the grid can be optimized and built to be cleaner, more resilient, and flexible through hardware and software solutions.

Explore the intersection of the grid and data center demand.

Collect and analyze data in sector investment, project deployment, economics, business models, and demand.

Convert complex data and research findings into actionable frameworks and insights for a range of audiences, including financiers, corporate strategists, and , policymakers.

Engage with and present to external stakeholders, offering thought leadership and reinforcing and expanding Sightline Climate’s position as the go-to source on actionable intelligence across the transition economy.

Stay on top of the latest trends and advancements in grid and data center tech and integrate these insights into our research framework.

The Essentials Research experience in analyzing grid technologies and policies, including AI and software solutions for transmission and distribution systems, integrating distributed energy resources, demand-side flexibility, virtual power plants, and new sources of demand like data centers.

Excellent analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on detail and accuracy.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of presenting complex data in a comprehensible manner.

Innately curious and passionate about climate tech innovation.

An ability to explore and understand the commercial and economic implications

A Plus A Master's Degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Economics, Physics, Environment / Climate, or other Sciences

Experience in a grid tech startup, a utility, or a grid operator

Additional data analysis skills / experience in Excel, SQL, or Python
