The Industrial Solutions Anti-corrosion Coatings Research & Development team focuses on the development of new process chemicals for cathodic corrosion protection in surface finishing. The product group includes electrolytic coatings as well as post treatments and topcoats. As part of the Research & Development team at the Birmingham site, this position will be responsible for performing development projects individually or within a project team. Responsibilities include research and development tasks in all project phases from project idea to final commercialisation. What will you be doing?
Developing new formulations and processes Establishing experimental requirements to solve complicated problems, analysing and interpreting results; making recommendations; proposing deadlines for completion Testing of new formulations in laboratory and tech centre scale Following assigned projects through manufacturing Travelling to customer trial sites to install, troubleshoot, collect data and do final development work Literature and patent research Recording and interpreting data, summarising and preparing documentation and reports, including complete data analysis and making recommendations to project leader Supporting commercial teams with technical expertise Who are You?
PhD or MSc in Chemistry or surface finishing with relevant experience What competencies will you need?
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to write and present project summaries to internal audiences and customers Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to demonstrate independent and novel approaches to problem solving Capable of defining technical path for projects Confidence to take calculated risks Handles problems effectively with a sense of urgency Data and conclusions are trusted and delivered in a timely fashion We are Offering...
