We are looking for a Research Engineer to join our client just outside St Andrews in this full-time role. This will be a hybrid role working 35 hours per week.

JOB PURPOSE

Using own expertise to work on research projects as directed by senior staff and on an independent basis, providing research support to the Equipment Standards department. This will include the collection, analysis, and communication of relevant data, and escalating complex issues to the Research & Testing Manager, when appropriate, in order to support departmental objectives.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Design and conduct experimental research on aspects of the science of golf to meet the department's research goals and objectives. Conduct statistical analysis of data from a wide range of sources to inform decision making within the department and to support the department's research goals. Develop data and theory-based models and simulations to inform decision making within the department. Develop code and software to support departmental research goals including proof-of-concept integrations with test equipment. Report outcomes of research in various formats appropriate for target audiences including the department, the Equipment Standards committee, and other stakeholders, in order to aid in their decision-making and contribute to the Group's research portfolio, in line with departmental objectives. Support relevant processes in the department's Quality Management System to ensure the maintenance of standards and their continued compliance with ISO accreditation.

REQUIREMENTS

Degree in Physics, Mathematics, Engineering, or related discipline. Experience of conducting scientific research. Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office (especially Word and Excel) and MATLAB. Experience of statistical analysis and application of relevant software (e.g., Minitab, R). Experience of working in a technical, research, or engineering environment. Ability to work within a structured framework such as the ISO 9001 quality management system.
