Consumer Insights
Team. You will be running and supporting both UK and Global research and insights projects across multiple sectors like Retail, Consumer Goods, Travel, Transport, Hospitality, Food Services, Leisure & Entertainment, etc. You will have support from seniors in the team on larger and complex projects. The role requires working closely with other YouGov teams (Account Management, New Business, Offshore operations & support teams etc.) as well as directly with clients to design and deliver research which hits the brief and is clear, unbiased and stands up to scrutiny (thanks to YouGov’s research’s amazing reputation and media presence). You will be liaising with clients and collaborators on all day-to-day aspects of projects – from project inception to project delivery and everything in-between. Here’s a breakdown of what you’ll do (not all of it, just the important stuff):
Supporting senior researchers in designing and running research projects, both domestic and international, across various methodologies (end-to-end project management). Developing and applying your understanding of research methods, including the principles of good questionnaire design. Creating data analysis plans and interpreting the data to find trends and insights towards answering clients' questions in the brief. Visualising data in reports and writing commentary, headlines and summaries towards creating stories (mainly in PowerPoint, but also in Word sometimes), with senior researcher support. Working closely with operations teams who are responsible for scripting, fieldwork management and data processing including coding. Collaborating with colleagues to quality-check, design and deliver projects from start-to-finish. Attending client meetings as a research representative at various stages as needed, including proposal, status checks, reporting and post reporting follow-ups. Learning and using internal YouGov processes and systems. These are the essentials you’ll need to get an interview:
Educated up to degree / HND level in a relevant (e.g. social sciences, English) subject desirable, or industry experience/ recognised qualification such as the MRS Advanced Certificate. Quantitative primary research experience in a client-facing role. Strong attention to detail and ability to deliver results, meet deadlines and manage time effectively. Problem-solving, analytical and numerical skills. Basic understanding of statistics and quantitative analysis desirable. Behavioural competencies that would be great to have:
Excellent communication skills for managing all internal and external stakeholders effectively. Collaborative team worker who takes pride in their work, positive and friendly attitude, enjoys working within a vibrant and dynamic team environment. Ability to deliver results, meet deadlines and manage time effectively. Curiosity & interest in consumer sectors like retail, consumer goods, travel, transport, hospitality, etc. What’s in it for me?
The opportunity to apply your research skills across a broad range of prestigious clients’ needs. YouGov’s Research team works together and with other teams to produce research for organisations from many sectors. Across business, the media and the general public, YouGov’s research is a trusted source of information. You will work with the best – your teammates - and get to see your own research projects used in key decision making and to gain coverage in UK media and beyond. It’s a busy, fun, hard-working team where the right candidate will see their research repertoire, people skills and commercial accountability develop quickly.
