A new and exciting opportunity has arisen for a Research Grant & Quality Lead who will form part of the Research and Innovation Team which is part of the Education and Research Directorate at DBTH.

The post will be instrumental in supporting and growing research activity by leading on research governance and ensuring regulatory compliance at all times. This post will be integral in growing our capabilities to sponsor and deliver different types of research across DBTH. The post holder will provide bespoke support and advice for our Clinical Academics and work closely with our external partners to grow our Research pipeline particularly in areas of strategic importance.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work as a skilled and effective member of both the Research & Innovation leadership team and as part of the wider multidisciplinary team, to promote and support DBTH-led research and innovation. Working across professional boundaries, the post holder will provide expert advice and support to Trust investigators, liaise with external organisations to develop robust research teams, submit competitive grant applications and also increase the Trust's research skills, knowledge and capacity base by supporting and leading (as appropriate) the delivery of the Trust's Research and Innovation Strategy.

Knowledge and Experience

Essential

Demonstrable experience of clinical or biomedical research in an NHS, academic or commercial environment Experience of audit Experience of Quality Management Systems Experience of coordinating grant funded research Experience of preparing grant bids and supporting bid submissions

Qualifications/Training

Essential

Educated to masters level in health related/biomedical sciences or equivalent experience

Personal Attributes & Skills

Essential

Ability to analyse and interpret complex documents including European and national legislation, Department of Health Policies and Acts of Parliament. Demonstrable attention to detail. Excellent written communication skills Proven ability to develop effective working relationships with colleagues at all levels Working knowledge of the HRA, set-up and approval processes within the UK and devolved nations. Knowledge of research funding sources and the research and innovation landscape. Knowledge of ACoRD costing guidelines
