Research Manager The General Medical Council is currently looking for a Research Manager to work in our Data, Research and Insight Hub. The Research Manager will be responsible for developing, managing, and ensuring the delivery of key individual research projects as part of the GMC’s research programme. Delivered by a small team of research managers, the research programme provides the GMC with crucial intelligence and insight to inform our policy development and decision-making. We do not fund or undertake medical research, and you don’t need previous medical experience. Summary of the role Although the majority of the research programme is commissioned, a significant minority of projects are undertaken in-house, and research managers will be expected to deliver both types of project. We are not looking for advanced expertise in particular methods, but rather for sound general knowledge and experience of a range of research methods. Research managers will work closely with policy colleagues across the GMC to understand their research needs. The role will also require close working with a range of other GMC staff, including colleagues involved in procurement, information governance, data management, and communications, as well as external research contractors. You will be required to attend our Manchester office one day per week (our designated office day is currently Tuesdays), and travel to other GMC sites may be required from time to time. We are happy to consider a range of flexible working options. How to apply for the role Please apply by completing our online application form. We will assess the information you provide against the skills required for the role and let you know whether you will progress to the next stage of the recruitment process. GMC Benefits – Why work for us You’ll benefit from being part of an organisation that is genuinely committed to its people, with several excellent benefits including: 30 days holiday with the option to buy and sell more. A generous employer pension contribution of 15%. Access to a range of learning and development opportunities designed to support your ongoing progression. Attractive salary that’s reviewed annually. Discounts at hundreds of high street and online stores. Discounted gym membership. Private medical insurance. Employee assistance programme. Cycle to work scheme for those wanting a greener commute. Bike lockers and shower facilities. The GMC values diversity and has made a public commitment to processes and procedures that are fair, objective, transparent, and free from discrimination. We are also committed to the Disability Confident employer scheme and support the requirements of the Disability Confident interview scheme. If you have a disability and meet the cut-off mark for the essential criteria for this role as outlined in the person specification document, you will be offered an interview. The GMC is a charity registered in England and Wales (1089278) and Scotland (SC037750).
