We have an exciting opportunity for a Research Manager to join our Research Programmes Directorate. As a Research Manager, you will play a key role in driving the strategic development and delivery of both NIHR and non-NIHR research funding programmes, contributing to reducing health inequalities and reconfiguring the health, social care, and public health systems. Key responsibilities Research and articulate potential research investment opportunities Revise application forms and guidance documents Review applications for funding Coordinate and manage the peer review process Oversee funding committees Provide feedback to successful and unsuccessful applicants Undertake due diligence of proposals based on critical assessment of healthcare-related projects Negotiate funding agreements for projects recommended for funding Manage a portfolio of funded projects Regularly communicate and collaborate with individuals both within and outside the organization. What you will bring to the role Qualifications Requirements A degree in biomedical, health, or social sciences, or equivalent experience in the field Strong ability to communicate effectively and experience in building relationships with various individuals and teams. Track record in successful project and programme management Ability to think strategically Excellent writing and attention to detail Excellent planning and organisational skills Analytical and complex problem-solving skills Strong communication skills and customer focus Committed team player Experience in a research management environment Preferred: PhD in a medical, scientific, technical, or social field. Equivalent experience will also be considered. Desirable: Knowledge of the UK's health and care research landscape Applications This role is a 12-month fixed-term contract with the possibility of going permanent.
