Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust

As we embark on opening a new Clinical Research Unit (CRU) and take ownership of a Mobile Research Unit (MRU), we are looking for an enthusiastic and competent Registered Nurse with experience in the delivery of clinical research studies or a nurse with a strong clinical background and significant post-registration experience who is interested in becoming a Research Nurse. The Countess of Chester Research and Innovation department is looking for a forward-thinking, positive, enthusiastic, and motivated individual to join our Acute & General Medicine Clinical Research Delivery Team. Experience of working in acute NHS care settings is essential. The post is clinically based to support research across medical specialties, and the post holder will be expected to provide support and cover for other members of the team. You will have the opportunity to be involved in several different types of academic and commercial NIHR Portfolio studies, and you will be expected to support trials delivered not only on site but also through our new Mobile Research Unit (MRU). Informal visits or contact by telephone/email are encouraged in order for applicants to best understand the expectations of the role. Secondment from your current role might be considered. Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day running of their assigned NIHR Portfolio studies as well as positively contributing to the team objectives. Excellent communication and team playing skills are vital as you will work closely with existing team members and play a pivotal role in the screening, clinical assessment, recruitment, and follow-up of patients. A key aspect of the role is collaborative working. You will need to show initiative and confidence in your ability to interact with individuals at all levels. You will need to autonomously plan, adapt, and manage competing priorities while supporting the developmental needs of colleagues and any direct reports. Good IT skills are essential, along with the ability to work to tight deadlines, maintain a high standard of accuracy, and demonstrate good attention to detail. Research experience would be advantageous but not essential, as we can provide comprehensive training and support for the right individual who is up to the challenge and has a keen interest in clinical research within the NHS. Recent clinical experience in a secondary care setting is a requirement, and you will be expected to uphold your clinical skills where relevant to the role while developing new ones as appropriate. Travelling to the Ellesmere Port site is likely to be required in order to support study participants' needs. About us
