About us

The Centre for Medical Imaging, domiciled within the Division of Medicine at UCL, is a dynamic and versatile multi-disciplinary team at the sharp end of imaging research. We aim to change clinical practice by carrying out novel, pragmatic patient focussed research within the imaging space where quality control, repeatability and reproducibility are very important. We have at our disposal a number of multi-vendor MRI machines. We have access to patients and healthy volunteers. Our team consists of physicists, radiologists, radiographers, programmers, clinical trialists and statisticians. We have strong ties via NCITA to, in London: Kings College (KCL), Imperial College London and the Institute of Cancer Research, (ICR) universities outside London: Manchester, Oxford and Cambridge. We also work closely with universities in both Europe and North America, and we have very strong relationships with designers of phantoms and AI partners. Our work spans right across the translational pipeline. We aim to establish a fast and robust cross-institutional pipeline to produce quality assured locked down Imaging Biomarkers (IB): both for drug discovery within pharma clinical trials leading to more efficient development of cancer therapies; and practice changing paradigms within the NHS for areas of unmet clinical need. To deliver this aim, an MR Core Lab is critical to success. About the role

The post holder is required to assist with research in the area of cancer imaging; a central part of the role will involve the day-to-day running/maintenance of hyperpolariser lab suited in MacMillan Cancer Centre in consultation with the lab manager and post docs. The post holder will assist in the delivery of hyperpolarised MR clinical studies; monitoring and perform quality assurance measurements at the lab equipment (SpinLab-Hyperpolariser, NMR spectrometer), assisting day to day running of the lab, monitoring and maintaining stocks of lab consumables, preparing solutions and providing support for experiments being carried out by research staff and PhD students. This role will include ensuring that health and safety policies are followed and that the lab remains a clean and safe environment in which to work. About you
