Key Responsibilities Research Leadership

Develop and implement research projects aligned with the Foundation’s mission. Lead a team of researchers, ensuring high-quality data collection, analysis, and interpretation. Translate complex historical findings into accessible and impactful projects for academic and public audiences. Collaborate with academic institutions, historical societies, and other partners to enhance research efforts. Manage research logs and ensure compliance with ethical and regulatory standards. Present research findings to stakeholders through reports, publications, and events. Fundraising Strategy

Plan and execute innovative fundraising campaigns and events to secure financial support. Build and maintain strong relationships with donors, sponsors, and partners. Develop and refine a donor database and streamline donor liaison efforts. Leverage networks to identify new funding opportunities, including grants, sponsorships, and partnerships. Focus on creating and enhancing revenue streams to ensure long-term financial sustainability. Oversee project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation for both research and fundraising. Operational Management

Mentor and develop team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment. Collaborate closely with trustees to improve operational efficiency and drive the Foundation’s strategic vision. Manage day-to-day operations and ensure effective communication with all stakeholders. Skills and Qualifications

Expertise in pre-Columbian maritime history, with familiarity with Gavin Menzies’ work. Recognised university or university equivalent degree. Proven experience in research leadership, project management, and fundraising. Exceptional analytical, critical thinking, and creative problem-solving skills. Strong organisational and leadership abilities. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for engaging with donors, partners, and the public. Proficiency in historical databases, research tools, CRM software, and fundraising technology. Skills in web design (WordPress) and social media management. Knowledge of Chinese and/or Romance languages (preferred).
