Then look no further – we have a fantastic opportunity for a Resident Engagement Officer to join our Strategic Waste Team here at Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council on a Fixed Term Contract until 1st October 2026. In this exciting role you’ll engage directly with residents, schools and community groups to promote and educate residents on recycling and waste minimisation. You’ll help residents understand the upcoming changes to the waste and recycling service, organise educational events and lead community engagement campaigns across the Borough. What you’ll do:

Visit and work directly with residents to communicate changes to the waste and recycling service. Deliver fun, educational campaigns to boost recycling participation. Collaborate with schools to create engaging sessions aligned with the curriculum. Organise events, presentations and drop-in sessions in libraries, leisure centres and community hubs. Take a lead role in organising and co-ordinating tasks for the Resident Engagement Team. Support the roll-out of new initiatives, like the new chargeable garden waste service. What we’re looking for:

Strong communication skills and a friendly, approachable attitude. Experience of working with communities and running events. Organisation skills to manage schedules and delegate tasks effectively. A passion for sustainability and protecting the environment. Flexibility to work evenings and weekends. A full driving license. What we offer:
