This is a unique opportunity to join a thriving community providing residential care, creative work opportunities, and day services for adults with learning disabilities. Nestled within an 80-acre estate at the foot of the Pentland Hills, Garvald West Linton offers a vibrant, inclusive, and supportive environment where residents and staff work together to achieve meaningful outcomes. As a Residential Care Support Worker, you will play a vital role in ensuring the physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being of residents, empowering them to lead fulfilling lives and participate in the cultural, creative, and social life of the community. Key Responsibilities:
Deliver Person-Centred Support:
Build positive, trusting relationships with residents using a person-centred approach that respects individuality, dignity, and choice. Daily Living Support:
Assist residents with all aspects of daily living, including personal care, meal preparation, mobility, and administering medication, while promoting independence wherever possible. Activity Facilitation:
Support residents to engage in meaningful activities within Garvald's workshops (crafts, bakery, garden, estate, and weavery) and participate in cultural festivals, events, and activities in the wider community. Health and Well-being:
Monitor residents for signs of discomfort or ill health, accompany them to medical appointments, and ensure their safety and mobility needs are met. Team Collaboration:
Actively contribute to a positive team environment by participating in daily handovers, team meetings, and supervision sessions. Safeguarding:
Follow organisational policies and procedures to protect residents from harm, reporting any concerns or incidents in line with Care Inspectorate and SSSC standards. Experience and Qualifications:
Experience in a care setting or working with individuals with learning disabilities (preferred but not essential). A compassionate, empathetic, and solution-focused attitude. Full driving licence and willingness to drive own or company vehicles. A commitment to achieving relevant qualifications for SSSC registration, if not already held (SVQ 2 in Health and Social Care).
