We are currently looking to recruit a Support Worker for our service in Swalwell, Gateshead. Abbeymoor is a 40+ bedded nursing home which provides accommodation for adults aged 18 and over.

Services at Abbeymoor are for individuals who have neurological or respite care requirements including Huntingtons disease and complex brain injuries.

The overarching aim of the service is to ensure people we support receive the highest quality of life which can be attained.

We are looking for someone with a passion for supporting adults with all aspects of everyday life, which can include personal care tasks. The successful candidate will work alongside health professionals to give each resident the highest standard of person-centred care.

You’ll get a fully paid induction with ongoing training and support from a dedicated Manager, plus the opportunity to undertake a qualification in health and social care funded by Lifeways Group.

We work within the principles of person-centred support, enabling development and inclusion in their everyday lives within their home and wider community. Each service user has their own self-contained room within the service buildings, and your work will be varied as you’ll be supporting with activities including swimming, shopping, going for a coffee, going to the cinema, and visiting zoos and clubs.

You’ll be supporting the service user with general household chores such as cooking, laundry, vacuuming, and dusting, and in some cases personal care (assisting with bathing, toileting, and feeding). This position is 33 hours per week.

Successful candidates will be required to obtain an Enhanced DBS; this cost will be met by Lifeways.

Education:

GCSE or equivalent (preferred)

Experience:

Residential Childcare: 1 year (preferred)

Support Environment: 1 year (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

NVQ Level 2 Health & Social Care (preferred)
