Are you passionate about wanting to make a difference to young people’s lives? Do you want a job that is varied and rewarding, where you’ll also be getting out and about planning and organising social activities locally and further afield? No experience is necessary. We’ll provide full training, including British Sign Language (BSL) training. We’re seeking

Residential Care Workers

to join our inspiring team supporting our students (aged 9-25) to develop their independent living skills while supporting their education. The role will be in either our new adult residential centre or part of our on-site residential flats at the academy, both based in Exmouth, just a couple of minutes' walk from the beach. Every day as a Residential Care Worker is different. You’ll be supporting our young people who live in our

Academy Residential Home

to develop their independent living skills, as well as organising social activities, for example, activities in the local community, trips to the beach, cinema, or bowling, as well as trips further afield. Our students spend their day in our School or College, some also doing work placements or qualifications elsewhere, after which they return to our residential care flats. The shift pattern for this role is therefore outside of ‘school hours’. Here at the Deaf Academy, we have a unique culture. Student and employee development is at the core of what we do. We inspire the next generation to do incredible things. We are an award-winning organisation, and our teams create a positive, stimulating environment to enable our children and young people to thrive. We’re looking for extraordinary people to join us and help shape our future. Working with us is more than just a job. You’ll have access to fantastic benefits and receive

invaluable training

to develop your career. *This position is working during the academy’s term time, plus an additional 5 training days. The minimum salary for this role with no sleep-in rate applied is £23,854pa (this would apply to those only working the Mon-Fri shift pattern). The salary including sleep-ins may be up to £27,411pa (this includes payment for the maximum amount of sleep-ins possible for those working on full shift pattern), or £29,896pa for those at the top of the pay scale. We have a number of roles available and will therefore be shortlisting applications on a rolling basis. The academy may therefore close or amend the advert before the closing date.
