Newcastle City Council’s Homes for Children have recently created the role of

Senior Residential Care Officer , providing a career pathway for our staff. The creation of this new role has led to a number of successful internal promotions. We are opening another of our homes for children and require several

Residential Care Officers .

The successful applicants will need to be resourceful, highly resilient with the ability to establish relationships quickly whilst working as part of a team towards agreed aims and objectives. Applicants must be able to demonstrate the ability to work with highly challenging behaviour and have a high level of resilience. We are committed to providing quality care and achieving positive outcomes for the young people we look after.

You will also be highly motivated, have good communication and IT skills and a clear understanding of needs of children and their families. Experience of residential care and an NVQ level 3 in children’s health and social care or above is desirable for these posts. The successful applicants will be required to work shifts including evening and weekend work, as well as sleep-ins and night shifts as required. Additional payments during unsociable hours are also applicable to this post.
