Job Role

You will be part of a unique team who will drive and work with the Care Practitioners to not only facilitate excellent practice, but you will have the opportunity to shape the development of our Service.

This role involves completing 14-hour shifts followed by sleepover.

Specific Duties And Responsibilities To provide care and support to our children and young people in accordance with policies and procedures and participate in a mindful teamwork approach to childcare practice. To contribute to the assessment process for young people and be involved with ongoing support programmes in conjunction with other key employees. To ensure positive support to children and young people when they are concerned or distressed. To attend planning and review meetings where appropriate. To participate in a key person system. To ensure relevant reports are kept in addition to appropriate record keeping information collection and exchange. To work within a shift system including sleepovers. To undertake health and safety checks and other safety/security checks as necessary. To participate in ongoing training and be responsive to own personal development. To implement de-escalation and crisis intervention strategies as necessary and appropriate in line with mandatory training. Promote young peoples’ participation, promote structure, boundaries and routine. To comply with the code of conduct as required by the SSSC. To be fully aware of safeguarding and child protection issues. To fully understand the reporting process of child protection within the home. Contribute to the maintenance of a safe, hygienic and clean environment. The nature of residential work is varied and, in many instances, unpredictable. All staff are therefore expected to work in a flexible way and tasks that have not been covered in the job description have to be undertaken. At all times Practitioners are expected to conduct themselves professionally and adhere to Greenleaf Policies and Procedures, and to achieve this they will successfully complete induction and ongoing training. The Company reserves the right to vary duties and responsibilities at any time.

Requirements Essential Criteria: SSSC registration to be obtained within 4-6 months of start commencing in the post and renewed annually. PVG must be supplied. SVQ 3 & HNC in Social Care or equivalent or willing to work towards. Good communication skills. Understanding the principles of safeguarding and child protection. Knowledge and understanding of the principles of teamwork. Ability to work shifts including evenings and weekends. Full UK driving licence. Desired Criteria Experience of working within services for young people, at least 1 year. Wide knowledge of the behaviours displayed by children and young people and an understanding of a range of intervention strategies. Awareness of legislation in relation to childcare including National Care Standards (June 2017), Children (Scotland) Act 1995, GIRFEC. Benefits
