An opportunity has arisen for a motivated, enthusiastic and innovative individual to join our Asthma team.

You will have a keen interest in the field of respiratory care with experience post nursing qualification. You will provide valuable support to patients who have been admitted to hospital with an exacerbation of asthma or who are under the care of the asthma clinic based at Salford Royal. You will also act as a role model to staff working outside of the expert team.

You must be a highly motivated individual with excellent interpersonal skills. Having the drive, vision, and initiative to motivate others and meet the demands of the service is essential. You will be experienced at maintaining patient records and databases and have knowledge of the current respiratory pathways.

This post is a permanent post and to ensure that the requirements of the service are met, is full time. There may be a requirement to work within the community clinic setting. Whilst experience working within the respiratory specialty is desirable, this is not an essential requirement as full training will be given.

Main duties of the job You will be expected to work collaboratively with patients and professional staff delivering high quality care in both the hospital and community settings. You will be expected to visit patients in the acute setting to undertake a review of their asthma, and where appropriate suggest amended plans of care and follow up. You will be expected to work in the asthma biological injection clinic and other outpatient clinics following a period of training and supervision. In addition to being a qualified nurse, the successful candidate will also be able to demonstrate excellent computer/ IT skills to include Microsoft Office Package, and be enthusiastic about the field of smoking cessation and health promotion. Experience in clinical audit and data collection is desirable. You must be able to communicate effectively at all levels, have an understanding of managing your own caseload, demonstrate effective teamwork and participate in ongoing audit programmes.
