The Resuscitation service lead will be responsible for overall strategic planning, organisation and delivery of basic life support, intermediate life support, advanced life support training and associated training in line with the Trust's CPR Training Policy and in accordance with National Resuscitation Council Guidelines. The Resuscitation Service Lead will be responsible for ensuring a robust resuscitation service is provided Trust wide and to ensure that the service provides appropriate support clinically, educationally, and managerially. The Lead will ensure that the service meets any statutory and mandatory requirements in terms of training provision (including national, regional and Deanery requirements), governance, resource allocation and management. The Lead will ensure effective operational delivery of this training via effective management of all resuscitation service resources. The Lead will be required to audit and monitor standards of resuscitation practice and equipment within the Trust and assist with the procurement and monitoring of clinical equipment used during resuscitation. Main duties of the job Ensure that appropriate resuscitation procedures and systems are developed and actively in place and adhered to. Have clinical expertise in resuscitation and be an advisor to clinical areas. Respond to cardiac arrest calls and Medical Emergency Calls acting as an expert member of the team and facilitating experiential learning and team debrief where needed. Lead, drive and implement changes to ensure resuscitation, clinical simulation and human factors education is delivered to a high-quality standard. Develop and review the full Operational Policy and Procedure for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation. Review the Trust's Resuscitation policies in conjunction with the Resuscitation Committee and Resuscitation Council guidelines and ensure they are regularly updated. Implement operational policies governing resuscitation practice and training. Identify and notify any risk management issues that may arise relating to resuscitation procedures or equipment. Be responsible for communicating relevant research findings and changes to resuscitation-based clinical practice to the multidisciplinary staff of the Trust. Ensure standardisation of resuscitation equipment in clinical areas and the efficient use of all resuscitation resources. Qualifications Essential Professional registration Degree in health care related subject Experience of working with the resuscitation service Current Resuscitation Council ALS Instructor Experience of leading in resuscitation attempts as part of a hospital cardiac arrest team Desirable ALS Course Director CALS Instructor Instructor REACT Instructor Skills and Knowledge Essential Significant clinical experience Knowledge of health and safety frameworks Ability to plan, co-ordinate and manage the delivery of training to different professional and staff groups Ability to demonstrate leadership skills Excellent communication, highly developed presentation and teaching skills Desirable Experience leading NCAA audit within an acute hospital trust Human Factors training Experience Essential Evidence of experience working in an acute clinical environment with seriously ill patients Experience in leading innovation, project management and service development Evidence of continuing development Ability to lead the development of written protocols, guidelines and policies Desirable Experience of budget management
