Retail Assistant
will be: Must have GCSE English and Maths [or equivalent] Working within the retail/service sector with particular regard to customer service Working in a team environment Able to plan, organise and prioritise tasks Able to meet the needs of customers and donors in order to maximize sales in the Hospice’s shops Able to calculate and record basic sums to enable accurate completion of banking and trading statements Basic IT skills Good customer interface and excellent verbal communication skills A successful candidate will have: Retail Management or sector relevant training and qualifications Experience of working with volunteers Understanding of the potential value of donated items Experience of how to create a positive buying experience Charity sector experience or prior experience of working in charity retail Understanding/interest in current trends and fashion Knowledge and understanding of Health & Safety and Fire Safety regulations and best practice Understanding of Gift Aid and why this can make a significant difference to increasing income Previous experience in a similar role is advantageous, but not limiting in this position This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
