The department To effectively provide support to the Risk and Compliance Director to ensure that the firm's compliance and regulatory regime meets current requirements, conditions and client expectations. To manage the Risk and Compliance team on a day-to-day basis, including supporting fee earners and secretaries in relation to AML/risk and quality queries/processes. To cover the absence of the Head of Risk and Compliance. Purpose of job Make suggestions for improvement of effectiveness and efficiency Generally support the department with ad hoc tasks. Responsible for ensuring own knowledge and training is kept up to date and requesting training when necessary Training of new staff to the team Assist with conduct queries such as conflicts of interest and AML Overview of the risk team inbox and assisting Risk officer to ensure SLA's are being met Assist with annual staff appraisals Allocation and completion of Company audits Assist with annual review of software providers to the team Assist with completion of the annual AML risk assessment Identify improvements to policy and process, assess effectiveness of current policies and processes, recommend, and implement required changes The candidate Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of software (including Outlook, Excel & Word) & DMS Accuracy and attention to detail Highly analytical Self-motivated, ability to use initiative and provide pro-active support to fee earners Strong written and oral communication skills Ability to communicate with colleagues at all levels of seniority and liaise effectively with other internal departments and external contacts Adaptable and flexible Good organisational abilities Confident with excellent communication skills Knowledge of InTapp software Qualifications/Experience Knowledge / experience of Lexcel desirable Knowledge / experience of the SRA standards and regulations Knowledge / experience of AML regulations Equal opportunities At Birketts, our culture is driven by ambition and a commitment to positively impact all the communities we serve.
