An exciting opportunity has arisen within Whittington Health for an experienced band 5 or existing band 6 physiotherapist to develop their skills and knowledge in a range of challenging rotations.

The Physiotherapy service covers a broad range of services with 6 monthly B6 rotations, you will have the chance to deepen your experience as an autonomous practitioner. Working as part of integrated Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy Teams you will be providing a high standard physiotherapy service to patients at Whittington Health.

Rotations Include:

Respiratory ward:

Including active participation in physio led acute NIV provision. ITU:

Working in a 15 bedded ITU. General Medicine:

Working with Gastro, Haematology and general medical patients. Care Of Older Persons Team:

A dedicated unit for older people presenting with complex needs including, frailty, delirium, dementia, medical comorbidities, and social concerns. There is also an opportunity to work with neurological outliers. Acute Medical Admissions and ED:

Working on AMU and ED with an admission avoidance focus. Orthopaedics:

Surgical and Trauma at Whittington and Elective at the purpose built Southern Elective Orthopaedic Hub. Community Discharge to Assess:

Supporting the transition from hospital to home.

Main Duties of the Job

As an autonomous practitioner, provide a high standard physiotherapy service to patients within Whittington Health as part of a six-monthly rotation through Whittington Hospital, Southern Elective Orthopaedic Hub and Islington Discharge to Assess Service. Supervise and teach Junior Physiotherapists (Band 5), Therapy Assistants and Technicians, and students, and be involved in teaching colleagues from other disciplines.

Job Responsibilities

Clinical:

Work as an autonomous practitioner, to assess and treat own caseload of patients, including those with complex presentations. Carry out assessment of patients, including those with complex presentations. Utilise a wide range of treatment skills in delivery of treatment plans. Formulate and deliver physiotherapy treatment programmes in a variety of settings. Work collaboratively to prevent inappropriate hospital admissions and facilitate hospital discharge. Develop comprehensive discharge plans in conjunction with the multi-disciplinary team members. Keep accurate treatment records. Provide comprehensive progress and discharge reports. Demonstrate the ability to seek guidance and support when needed. Manage clinical risk within own patient caseload. Work flexibly to provide cover in other clinical areas when required.

Person Specification

Education / Qualifications

Holds a recognised degree or diploma in Physiotherapy. Current HCPC registration. English as a native language or IELTS Level 7.00 or above. Skills & Abilities

Evidence of clinical application of core Physiotherapy skills in Practice. Demonstrable skill in clinical reasoning and problem solving. Proven organizational skills including time management. Ability to communicate complex information clearly. Ability to work as an autonomous practitioner. Confident user of computers and IT databases. Knowledge & Experience

Minimum of 15 months post qualifying work experience in an NHS or Social Care setting. Experience in an in-patient acute work setting and community setting. Personal Qualities

Self-motivated, personally and professionally responsible. Flexibility and ability to handle change positively. Physical fitness to move and handle patients.
