We are recruiting enthusiastic and highly-motivated Band 5 physiotherapists to work across our exciting range of acute rotations, including within our brand new, purpose-built site at the Royal Sussex County Hospital. Main duties of the job To work as an autonomous practitioner; to assess a caseload of patients, who may have complex and/or chronic presentation, and to form a diagnosis and develop treatment programmes. To have workload managed by senior staff and work under supervision of senior staff, with access to a senior member of staff or manager at all times. To assist senior staff in the supervision and teaching of physiotherapy assistants and undergraduate physiotherapy students and be involved in the teaching of staff from other disciplines. To undertake evidence-based practice and participate in departmental research and audit. To adhere to departmental protocols, Trust policies and the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy Code of Conduct and National Standards where they exist. About us

Communication To adapt communication skills to encourage patients to undertake their treatment programme, including patients with communication difficulties e.g. Dementia, learning difficulties, visual and hearing impairments and non-English speaking patients. With guidance from senior staff assess capacity to give consent, gain informed consent and have the ability to work within a legal framework with patients who lack capacity to consent to treatment. To persuade, motivate, reassure, empathise, explain and encourage patients in undertaking their treatment programme. To clearly communicate sensitive information to staff, patients and carers with guidance from senior staff. To maintain accurate, comprehensive and up-to-date documentation, in line with legal and departmental requirements. Person Specification

Professional Registration

Health Care Professions Council Experience/Qualifications

BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy or MSc Physiotherapy (pre-Registration) or overseas equivalent. A range of clinical placements as an undergraduate. Experience of working as part of a team. Able to plan and prioritise own workload. Experience of working with physiotherapy assistants. Freedom to Act

Ability to work autonomously, liaise and coordinate with clinical team leaders on a day-to-day basis and to take appropriate action as necessary. Equality, Diversity & Inclusion
