Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for motivated individuals to join our team as a Senior Rotational Clinical Pharmacist. If you're an ambitious and forward-thinking individual seeking to enhance your clinical expertise while honing your management skills, then this position is tailor-made for you. When you join ESTH you’ll be welcomed by our very friendly and welcoming team who will support you throughout your career. If career progression is high on your priority list, we offer numerous specialised roles in our department at 8A and above, including paediatrics, antimicrobials, education and training, critical care, renal medicine, and biologics and homecare. We also offer support to our colleagues who are interested in completing the Independent Prescribing qualification. As one of South West London's largest teaching hospitals, we offer a unique opportunity to expand your clinical knowledge. Our status as an Acute Trust ensures you'll be exposed to a diverse range of medical conditions, allowing our pharmacists to develop a breadth of clinical expertise. Additionally, we're home to the South West London Elective Orthopaedic Centre, and our dedicated paediatric hospital at St Helier provides a valuable opportunity to work with a diverse patient population and encounter an extensive array of medical conditions. Main duties of the job

As a Senior Rotational Clinical Pharmacist, you'll work across a number of different rotations, including critical care, paediatrics, surgery, and a variety of medical specialties. Your daily responsibilities will encompass ward-based tasks, chart reviews, clinical interventions, working closely with the medical team to optimise medication regimens, patient education on medications, screening discharge prescriptions, and supporting junior or trainee pharmacists. In addition, you'll take the lead in conducting audits and driving quality improvement initiatives. During 6-monthly rotations you will provide a comprehensive pharmaceutical service, working towards expert level knowledge. You will also be supported to develop managerial skills and expertise by working towards agreed objectives. This position is full-time with a requirement for 37.5 hours of work per week, including participation in seven-day working and on-call rotas. However, we are open to applications from individuals seeking part-time, job-share, or flexible working arrangements. If you’d like to be a part of a team that offers a supportive and collaborative environment fostering growth and development, where your contributions are valued and recognised, we invite you to apply. Working for our organisation

St George’s, Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals and Health Group cares for a population of four million people in South West London and North East Surrey. Our sites include St George’s Hospital, one of 11 major trauma centres in the UK and the largest healthcare provider and major teaching hospital in the area; St Helier Hospital, home to the South West Thames Renal and Transplantation Unit and Queen Mary's Hospital for Children; and Epsom Hospital, home to the South West London Elective Orthopaedic Centre (SWLEOC). After years of collaboration, our two Trusts became a hospitals group in 2021. While remaining as two separate Trusts, being a hospitals group will help us to collaborate more closely on research, and the development, education, and training of our 17,000-strong workforce.
