About Us The Royal British Legion (RBL) Oxted Branch provides support and direction to promote and deliver against the RBL’s charitable objects of providing support and help to serving and former members of the Armed Forces, and their families, and remembering those who have made the ultimate sacrifice. There is no need for our volunteers to have previously served in the Armed Forces, but we do need volunteers who share our passion for supporting Veterans and the Armed Forces community, to help us deliver effectively against our objectives. Role Requirements The Branch Treasurer is to make payments for branch expenditure (two or three per month) and keep a record of payments made and monies received during the course of the year. The Treasurer is also responsible for the accurate and timely submission of the annual accounts. Training will be provided. Responsibilities of the Role Ensure that the Chair and Committee are always aware of the financial state of the Branch. Manage the online accounting process. Present a financial summary at the Annual General Meetings (AGM). Be conversant with and adhere to all relevant RBL financial provisions and regulations. Perform other duties that may be required or deemed necessary by the Chair and/or Committee. Act in accordance with and actively promote the RBL’s vision, values, and standards. Desirable Skills and Experience Good with numbers and proficient with online internet banking protocols. Possess good basic I.T. skills and be technically competent in Microsoft Office 365, in order to manage all documents and email within the RBL’s O365 portal. Terms of Reference This post is a Branch Officer and is appointed by the Branch Committee. As a Committee Member, you will be expected to attend committee meetings 12 times per year in Oxted, Surrey. Attendance can be either in person or virtually. This position is voluntary and unpaid, although all travel expenses can be reimbursed. Applicants must be over the age of 18 and of good character and meet eligibility criteria specified in the RBL Handbook and Charities Act. If you are willing to give up some of your time to help this worthwhile charitable cause, your presence on and input into the Branch would be very welcome.
