Ruby / Ruby on Rails / ROR Developer – other MVC backgrounds acceptable REF 865

Skills:

Ruby on Rails or any MVC based development background Benefits:

26 days holiday + bank holidays, Annual performance-related bonus scheme, Employee Benefit Trust, Monthly company updates with lunch, Free tea/coffee/milk/fresh fruit, Remote work available What the company offers: Lots of autonomy to solve problems creatively from a broad brief A productive working environment following scrum principles Opportunity to work with a product with real social responsibility and very high customer approval ratings Heavily involved in Open Source projects and community With a plan to substantially grow the engineering function this year, we are starting off as we mean to go on with the expansion into Leeds (City Centre) offices and three new hires into an already successful and now multi-site software engineering function. You will jump straight into the product mix developing solutions around predictive analysis and other data science initiatives, developing systems to allow organisations to integrate better (system integration, system design) and a frontend refresh across the product suite modernising the UI. The company is at an interesting point where the core product has had and continues to have great success, and there’s an appetite in the company to focus heavily on technically pioneering projects to provide value for customers and broaden the gap to competitors. This is a rare opportunity for someone to be tackling these projects without the bureaucracy of larger organisations. Responsibilities: Working in our friendly and hardworking engineering team Linking in with managers and product owners to ensure that we’re achieving our organisational goals Owning projects and solutions in Ruby on Rails Writing well-tested, secure, robust application code Identifying problems, bottlenecks, snags, and ways to work smarter Helping upskill the team as it grows You should: Be passionate about technology, the web, and solving problems Have experience developing web applications with Ruby on Rails or alternative MVC based framework development platforms (Laravel, PHP, Python (Django), C#.NET, ASP.NET MVC, Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Express.js, etc.) Understand and have experience with agile software development practices Have a desire to build exceptional products The key thing is to be able to demonstrate an aptitude for system design and engineering, and crucially, have a desire (at least not any kind of aversion) to work with Ruby and potentially Vue.js/React/whichever frontend tech the company moves to as advancements prevail.
