County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust has five urgent care centres across the Trust.

We are looking to recruit forward-thinking, enthusiastic General Practitioners to join our team of salaried GPs working in our out of hours Urgent Treatment Centres.

We have vacancies/various shifts available in Bishop Auckland and Durham centres.

Our urgent care centres provide a home visiting service, telephone advice, and face-to-face consultations for patients requiring urgent and emergency care.

Main duties of the job

Working on SystmOne in our out of hours service, you will receive referrals from 111, paramedics, and walk-in patients.

You will be expected to prioritise and co-ordinate your workload in collaboration with the Shift Coordinator, which includes telephone and face-to-face consultations, laboratory results, home visits, and walk-in patients who attend our service with minor injuries and illnesses.

You will be working alongside advanced practitioners and healthcare assistants/drivers.

About us

We provide hospital services from two acute sites - Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham. We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield, and Weardale, as well as over 80 other community-based settings and providing care in patients' homes.

Working in collaboration with our other centres and local Emergency Departments, we provide an out of hours GP-led urgent treatment service.

As part of a whole team approach to providing effective cover across all our Urgent Treatment Centres, you may be asked on occasion to work across other sites.

Ability to remain alert at unsocial hours Positive approach to change Flexible to service needs Experience Essential Recent general practice experience including out of hours work Experience of telephone consultations Paediatrics Palliative Care Mental health Minor Injury Management Desirable Relevant experience of working independently in General Practice Qualifications Essential Hold appropriate medical qualification to practice medicine in the UK Fully registered with General Medical Council with current Licence to Practise Hold a certified GP qualification Registered on a regional Performers list with no restrictions to practise Not suspended or disqualified from practise or on any conditional inclusion list with any NHS organisation. Desirable DCH/DCCH and or DRCOG GP Registrar supervisor training Statutory Registration Essential GMC registration with no working restrictions GP Qualification Special Skills & Knowledge Essential Primary Care GP Out of Hours National Quality Requirements Good verbal, written and electronic communication skills Ability to safely and confidently prioritise patients presenting problems Ability to identify and assess complex problems Good organisational skills Knowledge of local services Mobility around the area
