Overview
We are looking for a salaried GP to join our close-knit team at Downton Road Surgery. We are a well-organised, well-regarded training practice in South Bristol, with a strong presence in our PCN and well-established links in our community. Downton Road Surgery was forged in January 2024 following the merger of the Crest and Merrywood practices within the William Budd Health Centre in Knowle West. We serve a population of 14,500 patients in a deprived but supportive suburban area. Our team is made up of 14 GPs, 2 ANPs, First Contact Physio, a mental health worker, and 3 Clinical Pharmacists, alongside nurses and HCAs in our treatment room. We also have a highly trained administrative support team, meaning administrative workload is low volume and efficient for clinical staff. Utilising 15-minute appointments, we see 11 patients per morning and afternoon session, with up to 4 phone calls in between. Home visits are low in number and are handled mainly by our excellent ANP team. There is team coffee time each morning and an hour of dedicated administrative time every afternoon. We place a high value on education, with 3 Educational supervisors working in the practice. We are proud to train medical students throughout the year, in addition to our GPST trainees and F2 doctors. 2 of our GPs currently hold Health Inequalities Fellowships with the University of Bristol. Above all, we recognise that high-quality patient care comes from happy and motivated staff, and this is reflected in both our historically excellent patient survey feedback and our very low levels of staff turnover.
