Sales and Marketing Director The sales, marketing and fundraising department consists of the: Sales and Marketing Director, Development Manager, Development Officer, Marketing Campaigns Officer, Marketing and Publicity Officer, Marketing Assistant, Box Office and Sales Manager, Box Office Supervisor, Box Office Receptionists and volunteers. The department’s role is to develop and implement sales and marketing strategies for all aspects of South Hill Park activities to: meet and grow annual targets by maximising all earned income including ticket sales, workshops/courses, commercial revenue - such as private hires and corporate events, and fundraising/sponsorship; develop audiences/clients and raise South Hill Park’s local, regional and national profile. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES To lead, develop and implement South Hill Park’s marketing, PR, fundraising and commercial strategies. To devise and implement bespoke development strategies to seek and engage new audiences/clients. To ensure strong brand identity throughout South Hill Park, in Bracknell Forest and beyond. To maximise revenue from all income streams to meet annual targets. To oversee the successful promotion of South Hill Park’s annual programme of arts events and activities, including theatre, courses/workshops, cinema and visual arts. To work within set department budgets and maintain full financial records. JOB DESCRIPTION – SPECIFIC The Sales and Marketing Director will: Strategy Make a pro-active contribution to South Hill Park’s senior leadership team. Lead on the marketing, PR, audience development, fundraising, and commercial strategies. Lead on and implement all relevant policies, such as GDPR and branding. Management Recruit, line manage, appraise and motivate the Box Office and Sales Manager, Development Manager, Marketing Campaigns Officer; Marketing and Publicity Officer and Marketing Assistant; encouraging a pro-active working culture, providing support, development opportunities and training as required. Liaise with and manage the work of freelance specialists in areas such as: design, fundraising; business development; sponsorship, public relations and audience research, as required. Oversee the implementation of annual marketing campaigns including tactics for South Hill Park’s in house productions, learning and participation projects; courses and workshops; cinema screenings and visual arts exhibitions. Oversee the plan for fundraising, providing marketing and promotional support for all fundraising activity. Oversee the marketing and promotion of all commercial activities including corporate hires, functions, weddings and events. Communicate South Hill Park’s marketing, PR, audience development, fundraising and commercial strategies and tactics to all departments. Ensure good communication and working practice within the marketing, fundraising and box office teams by attending and leading regular team meetings, training and staff reviews. Finance Work with the Chief Executive to set and monitor ambitious targets for all income streams. Manage the marketing, box office and fundraising department’s annual expenditure, ensuring it is used effectively and efficiently and remains within the agreed budget. Monitor sales targets for all arts and commercial activities, including ticket sales, courses/workshops and commercial hires and events. Brand Management and Audience Development Build, promote and maintain a strong South Hill Park brand to ensure consistency across all printed and online marketing materials and campaigns. Implement audience development strategies to attract a more diverse demographic for all art forms; profiling current users and setting tactics for cross-selling. Commercial activity Maximise all commercial business opportunities, such as: fairs (eg. craft and wedding); corporate events (eg. conferences, seminars, away days and business meetings); parties; wedding receptions; wakes and filming opportunities. Work in partnership with caterer Peas & Carrots Ltd to grow all catering function business at South Hill Park. Explore and ensure the highest revenues are achieved from all available rooms/spaces, including profitable outdoor experiences. Box Office Support the Box Office and Sales Manager to ensure the box office team maximises sales and provides excellent customer service. General Represent South Hill Park as an ambassador for the organisation at press nights, performances, meetings and events; Undertake any other duties as may be reasonably requested by the Chief Executive; Actively contribute to a healthy and safe environment. Make a pro-active contribution to South Hill Park’s senior leadership team; Relationships Maintain good professional relationships with: Staff, tutors, volunteers and members of the Board of South Hill Park; Bracknell Forest Borough registrars and the caterers who operate within the Mansion; The officers and members of Bracknell Forest Borough Council, Bracknell Town Council and Parish Councils; Relevant arts organisations, associations and professional bodies; All other individuals and organisations with whom South Hill Park seeks to work. PERSON SPECIFICATION Education Essential Good general education Desirable Educated to degree level. Marketing qualification Skills & Knowledge Essential Leadership and team management. Professional marketing/sales experience. Ability to see business potential and convert it into profit. Working to and meeting annual financial targets. Excellent IT skills. Managing budgets. Copy writing skills Desirable Working in a commercial business environment. Working in a multi-arts environment. Fundraising experience. Ability to lead on digital media platforms, including website and social networking. Brand development. Building relationships with local, regional and national media Personal Qualities Essential High degree of self confidence. Natural leader. Positive nature – a can-do attitude. Results driven. Excellent communication skills. Excellent attention to detail. Self-motivated, resilient and versatile. Adaptable in a changing environment.
