Overall Purpose of the Role The Events Manager is responsible for the planning and delivery of a programme of customer focused events to enhance both the university reputation and support the University's Corporate Strategy, including its financial targets as set by the Estate directive. The role will be expected to engage across estates various work streams including, catering service provision partners and Integrated Facilities Partners (IFM) and LSBU's stakeholders. Key Accountabilities

To develop and implement a strategy for the delivery of a programme of events at LSBU which deliver impact and support advancement of the University strategy. Engage with event stakeholders both internally and externally. Plan, manage and deliver reputation enhancing events within the LSBU Group. Provide operational support to the event stakeholder during the event. Work with a broad range of LSBU departments and schools to offer a professional event management service, maximising reputational opportunity. Manage budgets in relation to event delivery. This will include regular review and re-tendering of contracts, negotiating costs, managing performance, and continually driving efficiencies. Work with colleagues to develop appropriate marketing and promotional activity to ensure events are well publicised and well attended whilst also attracting new business. Develop appropriate feedback mechanisms and regularly evaluate the effectiveness of the events and surrounding processes, with a view to aligning objectives to the Universities Corporate Strategy. Ensure events meet the necessary accessibility and health & safety requirements. Ensure excellent customer experience throughout the planning and delivery of corporate events. Work collaboratively across the department to ensure relevant colleagues are informed of and involved in corporate events. Keep abreast of the latest developments and trends in events management so that LSBU can maintain a relevant and engaging events programme. All other duties required for the efficient and proper running of events, as required by the head of department. When required, deputise for the head of department in managing the broader scope of soft services. Skills and Personal Attributes

Must be fully aware and cognizant of the LSBU Chartwells Sales Process/ Revenue Management. Must be able to work on own initiative and be a confident decision maker. Will have a generally outgoing personality and enjoy social interaction. Must be able to communicate effectively with potential customers, with employees from all parts of the company and able to present a highly professional image when representing the Company. Must be self-motivated and can maintain focus in the achievement of sales targets. Will demonstrate a thorough approach to work. Must be able to organise him/herself and others effectively. Must be competent in Microsoft Office and have a good understanding of database management. Must have excellent communication skills, verbally both on the phone and in person, and written. Will be an effective team worker as a key member of the central sales team. Ability to inspire customer trust and confidence. Ability to deal effectively with, and gain support of, internal colleagues. To have a passion for sales and food. To act as an excellent ambassador for Chartwells. To be able to think fast and to deliver solutions to customer requirements. To possess diplomacy, discretion and impartiality of judgment. Commercially focussed with ability to measure impact and results. Approach to analysis of work problems and opportunities that allows commercially sound judgements to be made on time. Ability to quickly gain credibility with key stakeholder groups. An approach to negotiating and building co-operation that supports organisational goals.
