At Leonardo, we have an exciting new opportunity for a Sales Manager within our growing Mission Systems business area, part of the Integrated Sensing and Protection (ISP) line of business. The ISP Line of Business main markets are in Defence, primarily Land and Maritime, both in the UK and Internationally.

We are looking for a motivated and driven Sales Manager to help build upon the success of our Counter Un-Manned Air Systems (CUAS) capability.

What you will do as a Sales Manager, Counter Un-Manned Air Systems – CUAS (Mission Systems)

Responsibilities include but are not limited to, identifying and winning business in order to:

Secure order intake to meet forecast targets for current and future years (IBP) by managing and delivering a portfolio of campaigns and sales opportunities.

Identify and create opportunities for future sales / growth.

Work closely as part of an ICT/IPT to contribute effectively to new BW activity.

Present detailed prospects to BW Reviews in order to secure pursuit, bid and resourcing approvals.

Develop bespoke win strategies, generate the price to win for individual campaigns, contribute effectively to the preparation of proposals for customers.

Undertake accurate and well-informed market and competitor analysis.

Develop and maintain relationships with customers, end users and Industrial Partners.

Develop and maintain close relationships with key stakeholders including Regional and Divisional Marketing, the Business Area IPTs, the Capability function and other functional areas.

Utilise company BW procedures and apply your skills, knowledge and experience to ensure that opportunities are identified, tracked, accurately reported and secured.

Effective management and utilisation of BW resources, including BPIA, by bidding for and managing resources required to prosecute campaigns and opportunities.

Provide input to and support for marketing & communications (MARCOM) events such as shows, exhibitions, demonstrations, conferences, etc as planned and directed.

Assist in the preparation of private venture (PV) investment business cases to develop new capabilities.

You will be willing to travel to our facilities in Basildon and Southampton, when required, to work with the Capability, Project and Engineering functions as well as the lead of an integrated capture team.

What we need from you:

Demonstrated strong Customer and Stakeholder relationship skills.

Significant demonstrable success in leading capture teams developing, managing, leading and winning significant sales campaigns and product sales within the defence, aerospace or other comparable sectors.

Self-starter and highly motivated and able to set short and long-term planning goals in line with campaign and business needs.

Output oriented with focus on achieving clear and ambitious goals.

Strong leadership, motivational skills and a capacity to overcome barriers and enact change.

Able to develop strong, trusting relationships at all levels within the business and externally and be able to influence effectively at all levels.

Excellent communication and presentation skills.

Able to write compelling marketing content and proposals.

Capable of confidently briefing to senior stakeholders across the Leonardo business, industry partners, MoD, the Military and government.

Commercially and financially aware, with some experience of negotiating and closing complex deals in the international marketplace.

It would be nice if you had:

Relevant sector experience and commercial knowledge.

Knowledge of working in a global organisation with complex reporting structures in an Integrated Campaign Team (ICT) environment.

Demonstrable collaborative/team behaviours.

Knowledge of international trade compliance regulations and export control procedures.
