You will be a tower lead responsible for all S/4 HANA projects for the SAP Platform which acts as a central team servicing all CIOs within MTD (Member Technology Delivery) providing product architecture roadmap, reliability, best practice adoption and resilience. This role is within the MTD function, part of the wider COO organisation, which is responsible for delivering IT solutions which have our customers and colleagues at heart. You will be accountable for end-to-end delivery of the agreed roadmap that supports our SAP landscape across the organization. You will work closely with Principal engineer and architecture team to provide thought leadership to our Engineering teams. This role will drive a culture of continuous improvement, with a focus on building technical capability (including people) across all disciplines. This is a pivotal role within the MTD Engineering team, who rely on this role for support in planning and strategic thinking to drive forward the delivery agenda. Lead and manage projects related to SAP Basis and HANA, such as system upgrades, implementations, and migrations. Lead and take responsibility for S/4 HANA and HANA DB support function with a potential to expand the team that is currently owned by vendor partners. You will be expected to take accountability for the lifecycle of the SAP Platform technology stack, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders. Provide leadership and mentoring to technical teams, guiding them on engineering principles, design patterns, and implementation techniques. Lead the ongoing evolution of the SAP engineering capability (both within SAP Platform and the wider Society) to ensure that it continuously improves and can meet the ongoing needs of the Society. Champion new SAP technologies, methodologies, and innovations, including SAP S/4HANA, BTP, SAP Fiori, and cloud-based solutions, to enhance efficiency and agility. Provide guidance and direction to a team of engineers to create fit for purpose artefacts that meet requirements of the organisation and fit the technology strategy. Provide technical expertise at parts and/or all stages of the delivery lifecycle, including providing technical leadership and consultancy to stakeholders. Participate in strategic planning, architectural decisions and collaboration opportunities related to SAP systems. Install, configure, and maintain SAP systems, including SAP HANA databases. People manage and nurture a team of engineers to build a strong high performing team. Organise the work of the team relying on technical knowledge to create efficiencies and give appropriate direction. About you

We need somebody with: Extensive experience in large scale SAP transformations, including expertise in SAP S/4HANA, SAP ECC, SAP Cloud Platform, SAP Fiori, and associated technologies. You will have a career background that has evolved through a technical discipline (preferably through implementation and design) in the network space towards a leadership role. You will demonstrably have the confidence to make decisions and the humility to change course when needed. Experience of leading support function of SAP S/4 HANA systems and applications is highly desirable. Deep applied and proven experience in leading complex SAP transformation programmes within a highly regulated environment, preferably in the financial services or banking sector. Demonstrated experience in adopting and implementing emerging SAP technologies with a mix of both on-prem and cloud solutions. You’ll be a constant learner, open to new ideas and new ways of doing things. Experience of working on SAP applications in Banking and financial services including SAP-Fioneer, payments, core-banking and accounting is highly desirable. Experience working with, and developing solutions that span both on-premise and cloud hosted technologies. You’ll have broad technical knowledge across SAP BASIS, Security, cloud technologies, integration technologies such as: Hands-on experience of SAP Solution Manager, Change and Release Management (ChaRM) and other SAP tools. Data integration patterns and tools including both real-time and batch interfaces with external systems. Core SRE principles with focus on capacity modelling and observability. Experience with incident management and quick issue resolution working with L2 and L3 teams.
