What the role involves

• Safely control traffic at the designated crossing point to allow pedestrians to cross the road.
• Give clear and authoritative signals to drivers, ensuring traffic remains stationary until the crossing is clear.
• Have due regard for individuals with disabilities, particularly those with mobility impairments.
• Maintaining regular communication with the school(s) attended by children using the crossing.
• Report any safety concerns, defects, or incidents to the supervisor.
• Regularly assess risks at the crossing point.

Skills and requirements

• Experience working in a customer‑facing or community‑based role (desirable).
• Experience interacting with members of the public in a calm and professional manner.
• Ability to follow procedures and work independently.
• No formal qualifications required, as full training will be provided.

Confirmed role details

• 7.5 hours per week, term-time only.
• We work on bi-weekly schedule.
