What the role involves
- Safely control traffic at the designated crossing point to allow pedestrians to cross the road.
- Give clear and authoritative signals to drivers, ensuring traffic remains stationary until the crossing is clear.
- Have due regard for individuals with disabilities, particularly those with mobility impairments.
- Maintaining regular communication with the school(s) attended by children using the crossing.
- Report any safety concerns, defects, or incidents to the supervisor.
- Regularly assess risks at the crossing point.
Skills and requirements
- Experience working in a customer‑facing or community‑based role (desirable).
- Experience interacting with members of the public in a calm and professional manner.
- Ability to follow procedures and work independently.
- No formal qualifications required, as full training will be provided.
