The aseptic unit at University Hospital of North Tees prepares and dispenses injectable chemotherapy and Parenteral Nutrition for patients treated at both University Hospital of North Tees and University Hospital of Hartlepool. The post holder will contribute to the delivery of high-quality, efficient, effective comprehensive aseptic services within the Trust, based in the aseptic unit within the pharmacy department. You will be working as part of the aseptic team to provide an effective, patient-focused aseptic service. This will include the preparation, in-process, pre-manufacture, and post-manufacture checks of chemotherapy and parenteral nutrition products, including the supervision of personnel within a cleanroom facility under the requirements of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). To be eligible for consideration for a Science Manufacturing Technician Level 3 Apprentice interview, you are required to have a Level 2 BTEC/NVQ in Pharmacy Services or Functional Skills Level 2 (Maths, English, and Science) qualification. The job requires the successful applicant to hold or complete a level 3 Science Manufacturing Technician apprenticeship programme within 2 years. The post holder who successfully completes the 2-year course and associated study will be expected to register as a Science Manufacturing Technician with the Science Council. Participates in the aseptic preparation of medicines for seriously ill patients such as those receiving chemotherapy within defined timescale. Ensure that cleaning in all areas of the production unit is completed according to GMP and departmental policies and procedures. Plan personal and departmental activity workload. Assist in the development of standard operating procedures and documentation for use within the aseptic service. Supervise personnel in operating within GMP compliance.
