Abbott's Diabetes Care business designs, develops and manufactures leading-edge glucose monitoring systems and test strips for use in both home and hospital settings. We have launched a monitoring system that revolutionises how people with diabetes around the world monitor their glucose levels. We are passionate about doing work that improves the quality of people’s lives.

To support our continued site expansion, we currently have an opportunity within the R&D team for an experienced scientist to join us. This team provides product R&D support activities through scientific experimentation and concept development.

This position is at the heart of the R&D team within the Sterility Assurance and Product Integrity Development team, and your input and delivery of results will be instrumental in the achievement of key product and process innovations in the UK, Ireland and the US. In this role, you will have a key focus on the technical writing and documentation aspects of sterility assurance within our processes – you will support the assessment of our existing practices and methods in ensuring ongoing compliance through development changes and innovation lifecycles. The role will also play a key role in sterilization validation activities and support novel modality projects.

You should be excited about working in a fast-paced environment within a hard-working and welcoming team. The position offers a wide range of opportunities to grow your technical and scientific knowledge, as well as analysing data, evaluating results and forming conclusions, and using your technical writing skills to produce reports and documents.

To be successful, you will ideally be degree qualified in a scientific discipline, bring experience of working with sterility assurance compliance, and have a strong desire to learn and develop professionally.

The ideal candidates will be proactive individuals who take initiative and are able to work within a team. You will need to have good communication, analytical and time management skills, and be comfortable working in a fast-paced, changing environment. There will be opportunities to collaborate within R&D, and with quality, operations and engineering functions in the UK, Ireland and the US.

In addition to a competitive salary, Abbott offers a highly attractive benefits package which includes a defined-contribution pension scheme, a share ownership scheme, private healthcare, life assurance, and a flexible benefits scheme which you can tailor to your own requirements.
