We are looking for a Band 6 Senior Mental Health Assessment & Brief Intervention Practitioner to join the Exeter University Core Adult Community Team. The team promotes a dynamic and innovative way of working that includes triage, signposting and conducting mental health assessments. Main duties of the job

The University Community Mental Health Team is a small team providing secondary mental health care to the student population of Exeter University. It is a multidisciplinary team and has close working links with the Universities Student Wellbeing Services. You will be working as a dedicated practitioner to the University Community Mental Health Team alongside mental health treatment practitioners, psychology, psychiatry and social care. You will: Provide a combined consultation, advice, triage and liaison function. Work with patients to support shared decision-making about self-management; Facilitate onward access to treatment services; Provide brief psychological interventions, where appropriate. Work closely with The University CMHT to help address the potential range of biopsychosocial needs of students with mental health problems. You will be fully integrated into the CMHT providing a key role to ensure the appropriate management of referrals to the team. About us

Experience

Experience of working in a mental health setting Assessment of people presenting with mental health issues Assessment and management of clinical risk Working within a multi-disciplinary team Experience in working in Primary Care Experience of working in a GP Practice Working in collaboration with the voluntary sector Experience of delivering evidence-based psycho social interventions Knowledge and skills

Able to present sensitive information clearly and concisely, verbally and in a variety of other formats. Ability to build and sustain effective working relationships in stressful and demanding situations A positive attitude and able to act on feedback Ability to communicate effectively in English in both verbal and written formats Mental health assessment skills Delivery of evidenced based interventions Skills for assessing, decision making and problem solving on a range of service planning and clinical issues in the face of considerable adversity and complexity Ability to reflect and critically appraise own and others performance Ability to work from home/at alternative work base as required Ability to travel/be mobile across the area covered by the Trust Qualifications

Hold a Registered Mental Health Nurse, Occupational Therapist or Social worker Professional qualification Educated to Degree level or equivalent experience Diploma level specialist training or equivalent experience Evidence of continuing professional development Teaching/training qualification Psychological therapy qualification Disclosure and Barring Service Check
