Do you enjoy working in a fast-paced theatre department? We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Scrub Nurse to work in Southend University Hospital for short and long-term placements as well as ad-hoc shifts in a variety of NHS Hospitals and Private Organisations.
As a Scrub Nurse working in Southend University Hospital alongside Surgeons, Anaesthetists, Theatre Nurses, Operating Department Practitioners (ODPs), Theatre Support Workers, and Porters to provide skilled care and support throughout a patient's perioperative care.
You will be joining a friendly team of medical and nursing staff who are passionate about what they do and the services they provide to both patients and visitors.
Main Duties/Responsibilities
As a Scrub Nurse you will: Monitor and maintain a safe and sterile environment for the patient throughout the surgical procedure. Safely identify, prepare, check, and assemble equipment required for the relevant operating list. Prepare and organise the clinical area to receive patients for elective, emergency, and trauma procedures. Coordinate and maintain adequate stock levels of drugs, stores, and implants liaising with the Theatre Manager and/or Procurement. Actively support patients and their families, communicating clinical information using various methods to ensure effective understanding. Demonstrate and develop clinical assessment skills and prioritise the care for patients undergoing a surgical/anaesthetic procedure. Contribute to the continuing development of patient care within the operating theatres, e.g., through sharing knowledge and expertise as required. Benefits:

As a Scrub Nurse, it is essential that you hold: Current NMC/HCPC registration. At least 1 year of post-graduate experience. 6 months of recent UK experience within the last 3 years. With your skills and passion for patient care as a Scrub Nurse, you will be an asset to the theatre team.
