While working in accordance with NHS England’s Widening Participation and Talent for Care strategies, Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust is delighted to support anyone who has the potential to flourish in the NHS by offering an insight into a variety of careers available. We have a long established work experience programme primarily aimed at students in school years 11-13; however, you are very welcome to get in touch if you are considering a career change later in life. All clinical placements are purely observational (no hands-on tasks) and are fully supervised. Placements run for 5 days, Monday to Friday (excluding bank holidays). No weekend exposure is permitted. Please be aware that students must be at least 16 years of age to take part, and further age restrictions are imposed on certain departments. The majority of placements hosted are for those looking to apply to medical school, but if you aren’t an aspiring medic, we have exciting opportunities for everyone. There are hundreds of roles in the NHS. Current situation We are currently accepting new requests. We are excited by the amount of interest our local communities have shown in a potential NHS career. We have received over 500 applications for 2024 so far (it’s only April!), and please note that all places up until the end of summer are now full. Only a few term-time places remain in September and October. It is therefore expected that the majority of new applicants will be offered a place between November 2024 and August 2025. We will need to close the programme to new requests once this period is filled. Please contact us using the expression of interest link below to enable the team to provide you with the most appropriate application form. Those who submit an expression of interest form will be contacted at the start of June 2024. Our Coordinator will be on leave until then, so please await their return before following up. Application forms will be processed in order of submission, and any cancelled places that may become available will also be offered in this order.
