The Role As a Second Line Support Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You will have the opportunity to join a team at an evolutionary point of the Skynet project, replenishing the infrastructure in line with our service delivery wrap as part of the Skynet 6 programme. Day-to-day, you’ll be required to complete both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance tasks as part of a team providing solutions to complex engineering problems. The Second Line Engineer is an integral part of the escalation team for the Skynet Network. Complete routine and scheduled maintenance in accordance with work orders, maintenance schedules and support documentation. Drive reactive maintenance and continuous improvement. Report, diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve system alarms and anomalies. Compose comprehensive fault reports and accurately record all details of maintenance activities. Work closely with other stakeholders and Operational support teams to ensure delivery of satellite services. Provide out of hours technical on-call support to the Operations team. This role is full time, 37 hours per week and is based on site. Essential Experience of the Second Line Support Engineer ComPTIA Network + or relevant experience. Understanding and experience of maintaining High Power Radio Frequency transmission and antenna systems. Working at Height competencies. Competent in the installation and repair of Fibre and Copper cable systems. Proven experience maintaining and fault diagnosis of equipment used in satellite communications including control and monitoring systems. Good organisational skills, ability to prioritise workloads, with a sense of autonomy. Qualifications for the Second Line Support Engineer Higher National Certificates or above in Electrical and Electronic Engineering or relevant evidence of experience. A full UK driving licence. Security Clearance The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
