We have an opportunity for a Section Engineer Electrical and Process Control to join our team. The role of the Section Engineer Electrical and Process Control is to provide the technical and management expertise necessary to direct, lead and support a highly skilled, multi-disciplined team providing an Electrical and Process Control service to the Rotherham site. Ensure that the Department operates within agreed financial, operational, safety and environmental targets. The job owner will also be responsible for the management and development of the apprentice training centre, in conjunction with the training department and external training provider. Determine, organise, and direct the engineering resources and material requirements of the Electrical Services Department. Devise and develop planned maintenance, calibration and inspection schedules and ensure that they are implemented to meet statutory, quality and engineering requirements. Provide Technical and Engineering expertise to resolve plant engineering problems. Mentor, coach and develop personnel within the department to enable them to best serve the business. Assisting the Lead Engineer in the development and deployment of electrical standards and procedures across the business. Ensure that the engineering teams, specialist contractors and plant operator’s activities comply with all statutory health, safety, and environmental legislative requirements. Develop long term strategic plant replacement and improvement strategies. Identify the training and development requirements within the Department for the multi-disciplined engineering teams to provide a safety conscious and technically competent workforce. Organise, and own specialist contractors providing both on and off-site maintenance and services, refurbishment and modifications. Ensure that such contractors are competent and are adequately informed of the job requirements, arrange permits to work, agree access and safety procedures and ensure such requirements are adhered to. Keep abreast of all technical and managerial matters in the Electrical Services arena. In conjunction with the training department manage the running of the Apprentice Training Centre based in the GEW building at Stocksbridge. Deputise for the Lead Engineer in their absence. The Section Engineer is responsible for the efficient organisation of the Electrical Services Low Voltage and Process Control Teams. They are expected to ensure continuous improvement in the standards of Electrical Engineering, Health & Safety, and environmental performance, such that business objectives are met. They must also keep abreast of technical developments to ensure improvements to both engineering and operational performance are optimised. The Section Engineer must have the technical, operational and practical experience to make immediate, considered judgements in breakdown situations, paying due regard to the safety and financial implications. Required of the Section Engineer Electrical and Process Control

Preferably educated to degree level but with a minimum of HNC in Electrical Engineering. High level of technical expertise demonstrated by suitable experience in a related technical role. A detailed knowledge of management principles with good communication skills, effective man management skills and the possession of the necessary leadership skills to be able to motivate a multi-skilled flexible workforce. The job holder needs to be competent in the field of electrical safety and have a working knowledge of the related standards (including Electricity at Works Regulation & BS7671). A detailed knowledge of Health and Safety and Environment legislation is required with an ability to implement the requirements as part of departmental operations. They will be able to devise and co-ordinate complex and interactive plans and schedules to meet constantly changing circumstances. The jobholder must be committed to achieving safety, environmental, and service targets. The Working Pattern of the Section Engineer Electrical and Process Control

This is a Monday to Friday role 8am-4pm.
