Your role
Our Officers find out why passengers are coming to the UK, decide if they are eligible to do so and stop those who are not. You will develop your skills through in-depth law enforcement training, helping to tackle high-profile areas such as counter-terrorism, organised crime, modern slavery and human trafficking.
What your work will involve
Operating immigration and customs controls to check passenger permissions and documentation
Identifying and searching people, goods, and vehicles to establish if a customs offence has been committed
Identifying vulnerable adults and children to prioritise their safety and refer them to appropriate agencies
Interviewing passengers, undertaking investigations and determining whether they qualify for entry to the UK
Arresting offenders, preserving evidence, managing detention and liaising with other law enforcement partners
If involved in International Trade, you will be responsible for the movement and clearance of imported and exported goods and taking action if any irregularities are identified

Training and Development
We’ll support you with full training including:
Initial 5 to 8 weeks of full-time ‘classroom’ training including Public and Personal Safety Training
‘On the job’ training with a mentor supporting you until you are fully confident. Even then you are never alone: your team are always around for advice and support
NB - You will need to complete a health declaration and/or medical examination as a level of fitness is necessary to pass the training

You must hold a full valid UK manual/automatic driving licence.
You must be a UK National and a UK resident for the last 5 years (and undertake Security Clearance)
