SEMH Teaching Assistant | Secondary School | January 2025 | South East London A leading Primary School is in need of a superb SEMH - Teaching Assistant. You will be supporting a Year 8 pupil who has some behaviour difficulties due to traumatic events that have taken place. The pupil is a high-functioning, capable individual but requires additional support and nurturing support network. SEMH Teaching Assistant | Job Details Start Date: 8th January 2025 Contract: Long-Term Hours: 08:00 - 15:30 School Type: Secondary SEMH Teaching Assistant | School Details Ofsted Outstanding Secondary School Large school with excellent resources and facilities especially for inclusion Strong inclusion team with external support from the borough's educational psychologists, a counselling charity and specialist therapists SEMH Teaching Assistant | The Ideal Candidate Experience working with students with behavioural challenges, preferably in an educational or special education setting. Knowledge of behaviour management techniques, positive reinforcement strategies, and de-escalation methods. Ability to establish rapport and build positive relationships with students, demonstrating patience, empathy, and understanding. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm and composed in challenging situations. SEMH Teaching Assistant | Requirements Must have some recent SEN experience. Candidates must have a valid DBS certificate on the update service (not mandatory as we can provide one). Some knowledge of strategies in working with young people with behavioural problems.
