An SEN School in Caterham is seeking an enthusiastic English Teacher to join their dedicated team. This role involves delivering outstanding educational experiences to students aged 11 - 16 who face communication and social interaction challenges, often associated with Autism. About the School: The school is part of a reputable academy group and collaborates closely with a local sister school. While they share leadership, each site has its own Assistant Head, teachers, and TAs, ensuring focused support. Key Responsibilities: Deliver and develop a curriculum that meets the educational, physical, and social needs of students. Collaborate effectively within a multi-disciplinary team. Create and implement lesson plans that cater to short, medium, and long-term educational goals. Set, monitor, and review personalised learning targets. Assess, review, and communicate student progress to parents, team members, senior staff, and relevant bodies. Participate in the review of Statements, EHC plans, PEP, and LAC reviews. Structure lessons to ensure pace, motivation, and challenge. Stay updated on autism-related issues to plan effective teaching strategies. Address individual student needs with a non-confrontational approach. Requirements: PGCE, QTS, or equivalent teaching qualification. Ability to teach English up to GCSE level. Experience working with pupils with ASD, SEMH, and PDA profiles. Strong understanding of Safeguarding principles and Child Protection procedures. Experience in managing a range of behavioural approaches, including challenging behaviours.
