Support students with hearing impairments in both individual and group settings, ensuring full access to lessons and activities. Use BSL (British Sign Language) to facilitate communication and enhance the learning experience for students. Assist with the preparation and modification of learning resources to meet the needs of students. Provide emotional and behavioural support, promoting inclusion and building students’ self-esteem. Help with personal care and mobility where necessary, following school policies and safeguarding protocols. Foster a safe and inclusive environment for all students, ensuring their well-being at all times. Requirements for this role:
BSL Level 2 or above qualification is essential. Experience supporting children or young people with hearing impairments is highly desirable. Strong communication skills, both verbal and non-verbal, with a commitment to using BSL to support learning. A compassionate, patient, and empathetic approach, with a genuine desire to help students thrive. Knowledge and understanding of special educational needs and disability (SEND). Experience in an educational setting, particularly within an SEN environment, is an advantage but not essential. Ability to work effectively as part of a team and adapt to the evolving needs of the students. A positive, proactive attitude and a strong commitment to inclusion and diversity. Benefits:
