Special Needs Teaching Assistant Autism specialist school South East London Full-time ASAP Start Ongoing contract Do you have experience supporting children or adults with autism and are looking for a new role? We are currently working with a specialist school for children with autism in South East London who are looking for Special Needs Teaching Assistants to join their school. The Role As a Special Needs Teaching Assistant, you will be supporting children and young people with autism within small class settings. The school has opportunities across both their primary and secondary provision so you can use your skills and experience within a phase you are comfortable supporting. Pupils access learning through pathways and therefore classes are based on needs as opposed to age. You will work closely with the class teacher and other teaching assistants to prepare learning and development activities and support pupils through a wide range of classes, therapy sessions, and off-site enrichment days. The school is looking for Special Needs Teaching Assistants with previous experience supporting children or adults with autism or those who have a genuine interest in entering the special needs education sector. The School This large, highly-respected specialist school is based in South East London and offers an environment where children from 4 to 19 years with autism can develop and make progress in a supportive and caring environment. Across three sites, the school supports pupils in specialist centres which all benefit from excellent facilities including indoor and outdoor learning spaces and specialist sensory and therapy rooms. There is a range of expertise throughout the school including highly-skilled SEND teachers and teaching assistants and a team of therapists who use a holistic approach to make learning fun, appropriate, and enriching for all children. Staff work closely with both parents and external support provision to ensure every child receives the support they need. There is a highly-experienced leadership team in place across the school and there are excellent long-term professional development opportunities for staff joining the school. If this role is of interest, please apply ASAP with an up-to-date CV outlining your skills and experience.
