Position: SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator in a Primary School) Location: Chesterfield Role – Full time Salary – Up to 190 per day (dependent on qualifications and experience) Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with special educational needs? We are seeking a dedicated and experienced SENCO to join a mainstream school in Chesterfield. About the role: Are you passionate about supporting children with special educational needs and development? Do you have previous experience supporting young people/adults with special educational needs or disabilities within their education or support in their day-to-day lives? Can you help to identify a student’s needs, and then put in place or refer for support to help them learn? Connex Education is searching for a dedicated SENCo (Special Needs Coordinator) to join a well-established school in Chesterfield. The ideal SENCo will be able to do the following duties: Ensure that school policies and procedures are in line with the latest governmental SEN policies and regulations and implement the protocols for effective TA. Make sure that school teachers have the knowledge and skills to carry out SEN policies and to teach children with special learning requirements to a high standard. Ensure that the school is equipped with adequate equipment and facilities for special educational needs, including wheelchair accessibility and audio-visual learning aids. Prepare and lead SEN training for Teachers and Teaching Assistants. Assess the specific educational needs of children with learning disabilities and provide recommendations for their support. Produce regular reports and updates on the educational progress of children to Senior Teachers and parents. Provide one-on-one teaching support to children with learning difficulties in the classroom. Provide referrals for children to receive support outside of school hours, from Therapists, Medical Specialists, or Tutors. Manage 1:1’s, plan provision, and provide training. Monitor the SEND Provision and review the impact and monitor EAL pupils. Role Requirements: QTS and SENCO qualification. An experienced SENCO/Senior Leader looking to move into inclusion. Experience working with SEND students within a large and diverse inner-city school. Experience identifying, monitoring, and providing effective support for students with SEND. Experience of raising attainment and progress for students with SEND. Implementing research-informed strategies to support SEND students. Experience in EHCP/SSP, annual reviews, referrals, applications, conversions. Experience with liaising with outside agencies. Experience within budgeting. Safeguarding training and inductions implementation. Monitoring Myconcern and leading management of cases. Leading vulnerable children’s and the pastoral teams. Reviewing LACs.
