About the mainstream primary school seeking a SENCO
The school is a large primary school with two specialist classes for children with more complex needs. They have one specialist class that has 8 children who are non-verbal with quite complex needs and another specialist class that can communicate and have more formal learning.
The school is part of a wider trust which includes special schools, providing a network of SEND professionals. The school places great importance on relationships with parents and carers; therefore, the SENCO must be experienced in supporting families with children with complex needs.
