We are seeking to appoint SEND EHC Plan Writer and Review Officers (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Education, Health, Care (EHC)) to join the team responsible for facilitating the statutory responsibilities of the Local Authority.

These roles are essential for ensuring all children and young people with special educational needs can access the best possible education provision, experience positive progress and achievement, reach good educational outcomes and are prepared for adulthood.

What is involved?

The central responsibilities of the SEND EHC Plan Writer and Review Officer include: Facilitating the statutory assessment and annual review processes of the special educational needs of children and young people. Producing high quality EHC Plans to support the identified special educational needs for individual children and young people. Working closely with the SEND Caseworkers and Managers to maintain a caseload of draft plans and/or annual reviews and deliver updated EHC Plans in a timely manner. Maintaining regular communication and updates with other team members, reporting issues, and providing feedback to help inform further development of processes. Liaising with relevant Education, Health, and Social Care personnel to facilitate their contribution to the EHC Plan or annual review. Drafting proposed amendments to Plans following review meetings and Annual Reviews of children/young people's special educational needs. Sharing draft plans with families for final draft amendments. Ensuring accurate and secure recording of practice using appropriate systems. What will I need?

You will have: Qualifications - NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in a relevant subject area, such as Education, Childcare or Business Administration. A good understanding of special educational needs and statutory processes to support children and young people. Experience of working with families and/or other professionals to meet the needs of children and/or young people. Experience of collaborative working with a range of education providers including schools, colleges, health, and social care professionals. Hybrid Working

Durham County Council currently operates a hybrid working policy where a model of 2 days in the workplace and 3 days at home/remote will apply. This model is pro-rated for part time roles and arrangements are at managers' discretion; alternatively, you can work all of your contracted hours within the workplace if you prefer.
