Tailored Support: Work closely with each student to understand their learning style, adapting lessons to meet their individual needs and ensuring they can access the curriculum effectively. Classroom Management: Foster a positive learning environment, using behaviour management strategies to support students with SEMH needs in managing their emotions and behaviours during lessons. Monitoring Progress: Track and assess students' progress, providing constructive feedback to help them develop both academically and personally. Collaborative Working: Liaise with colleagues, including teaching assistants, SEN specialists, and pastoral staff, to ensure a holistic approach to supporting each student’s development. Encouraging Engagement: Inspire and motivate students to participate in class discussions, express their ideas, and improve their literacy skills while fostering their self-confidence.

Candidate Qualities:

Passionate Educator: A love for teaching English and a commitment to helping students develop a deeper understanding of literature and language. Experience in SEN/SEMH Settings: Preferably, candidates will have experience working in a SEN or SEMH environment, supporting students with emotional and behavioural challenges. Patience and Empathy: Ability to build strong relationships with students, offering patience and understanding, particularly when faced with challenging behaviour. Adaptability: A flexible approach to teaching, with the ability to adapt lesson plans and teaching strategies to meet the needs of students with varying levels of ability and emotional needs.
