Job Title : SEND Teaching Assistant Location : Wigan Start Date : Immediate Job Description : We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) Teaching Assistant to join a dynamic and supportive team in the Wigan area. This is a full-time role, requiring availability 5 days a week. Consistency and commitment are essential for this position to provide the best support to students with diverse needs. Key Responsibilities : Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with SEND, helping them achieve their individual learning goals. Assist the class teacher in creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment tailored to the needs of each student. Support students with a range of SEND, including autism, ADHD, learning difficulties, and emotional and behavioural challenges. Implement individual education plans (IEPs) and strategies in line with school policies and procedures. Encourage positive social interaction and behaviour management. Work closely with the SENDCO, class teachers, and parents to monitor student progress and provide feedback. Support students both in the classroom and during other school activities such as lunch and outdoor play. The Ideal Candidate Will : Have proven experience working with children with SEND in an educational setting. Possess strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents. Be patient, empathetic, and able to remain calm under pressure. Have a clear understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures. Demonstrate a strong commitment to providing consistent, high-quality support to the students in your care. Requirements : Relevant qualifications in SEND or experience working with children with special educational needs. A DBS check (or willingness to undergo one) is essential. Excellent references demonstrating reliability and experience in a similar role. Benefits : Competitive salary based on experience.
