We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join a rapidly growing practice in Hull and East Yorkshire. This role offers the opportunity to work within a dynamic team, providing high-level accounting services to a wide range of clients. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting and taxation, with the ability to manage client relationships effectively and support less experienced team members.

Key Responsibilities:

Preparation of statutory year-end accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies, ensuring compliance with all statutory requirements.

Taxation expertise in personal and corporate tax, including preparing and submitting tax returns and advising clients on tax planning.

Client liaison: communicate directly with clients regarding accounts, tax returns, and general business advice, both via phone and email. Some on-site client work may be required.

Mentoring and supervising junior staff, reviewing their work, and providing constructive feedback to support their development.

Handling ad hoc queries and offering technical advice to clients on a range of accounting and tax issues.

Experience with accounting software such as Iris, Xero, QuickBooks, and Sage is essential.

Work independently to meet deadlines and ensure the delivery of high-quality service.

Client billing and invoicing for work performed.

Maintaining a friendly and professional demeanour, contributing to a supportive team environment.

Offer feedback to other senior management to improve the department and efficiencies.

Requirements:

Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in a practice environment.

Extensive knowledge of taxation (both personal and corporate).

Experience with payroll is desirable but not essential.

Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage time-sensitive deadlines.

Confident in client-facing roles and able to work unsupervised when required.

Strong proficiency in accounting software and the ability to adopt new systems efficiently.

Benefits:

Competitive salary ranging from £35,000 to £45,000, dependent on experience.
